My first time walking into the ceramics classroom made me nervous and excited because I was scared it was gonna be hard for me because I didn't know anything about making stuff with clay, but I was excited to see what I would make over the months. Miss August also helped me be less nervous because she was very kind and nice to me. My overall experience was fun because I made many thing to take home and many thing that was taken to the art museum. I also made some new friends. I learned how to make stuff on the wheel, I learned how to make even coils and how to make a pot out of a ball of clay or coils. I am very thankful that Miss August taught me all that. Some struggles I had was making even log shaped coils because i would use my palm and they would flatten and or the would crack a lot. To over come my difficulties, i made a lot of pieces with coils in it and Kat taught me to use my fingers to roll it out not my palm. U also learned to use a damp sponge and white it with it to keep it from cracking and cover up cracks. My favorite thing I made this semester would have to be my Organic pinch pot because the final result looks very cool and looks like the legs wrap around each other to add a cool free flow affect. It may of took me a lot of time and restarting coils to make but the end result is so worth it because it looks very unique and cool.
